ALWAYS pack a puncture repair kit for your bicycle, ALWAYS!!! Fifteen minutes into my cycle home I got a flat and couldn’t fix it. I figured I’d just walk as far as the nearest service station and get it fixed there. No such luck. Tesco SUCKS!!! Not only was the air thingy broken at their pumps, but their station didn’t have a repair kit and neither did their GIANT ‘Extra’ store. For shame! On to ESSO. No repair kit again. This time I flipped the bike, took off the tyre (sans tyre iron I might add) and found the puncture. I filled it with air and managed to get to the next service station (2 minute’s cycle) before my tyre was flat again. No repair kit at the TOPAZ either! In fact NO WHERE along my 10km route had a repair kit! These things are cheap and tiny and a necessity for those of us who stupidly think, ‘It won’t happen today’. I didn’t count on all the scumbags who thinks it’s fun to smash out the bus shelter glass all over the cycle paths and roads though.
The fancy bike shop across the road from me isn’t open when I’m in the city and no where sells the kits. WTF!!!??? Surely when the volume of cyclists is increasing, some places would get a clue and start stocking the kits? I dunno, I see a market-opening.
Anyway, I’m sure my legs wouldn’t be able to take the trip two days in a row ’cause I haven’t cycled in at least a year before today, so I’m not too fussed about busing it. Pity though, it is meant to be such a lovely day…

Just got a video of The Veronicas looking at the drawing I did (it’s at the 1:50 mark) – pretty damn cool
-also just found out that they’ve added the pic to their facebook and myspace
To hell with the negative comments, they liked it and THAT’S all that matters

I’m just back from an absolutely wonderful evening in The Sugar Club, Dublin. After mentally kicking myself last time for missing the incredible Ane Brun play Whelans, I spotted a small piece in the Metro about her and how she was playing tonight. It was fate so I booked myself a ticket and headed over at 7.30-ish.
I’ll skip the prattle about sitting around for almost an hour on my lonesome LOL, and get straight into telling about the gig.
Firstly Ane’s support acts were great, fabulous artists in their own right and I thoroughly enjoyed every minute of their brief performances.
Then came the moment I’d been waiting for, Ane Brun!!!
Her cd ‘Changing of the Seasons’ is absolutely captivating and it only gets better live. She was joined on stage by her support acts as back-up singers (she calls them her Diamonds) and together they recreated the hypnotic mood of the album. Ane was amicable between songs, chatting away to the audience. In fact the whole evening felt more like a big group of friends gathering for a sing-song and a gossip
I managed to film most of my personal favourite track ‘Lullaby for Grown-Ups’ albeit on my camera-phone so I’m going to try and upload it to here for your viewing pleasure.
The whole thing lasted nearly two hours and, at €15, it was great value for money. She could show a few of those charging nearly €100 per ticket a thing or two about great music! I really wanted to buy a cd by one of her support-acts but alas, I had only plastic on me and so, with no ATM in sight, I headed home. I’m sure I’ll be ordering it online any second now
Just as a quick, add-on, met two Americans as I left the venue and they were hopelessly lost, looking for Trinity College and since I was walking in that general direction I offered to just walk with them (plus I didn’t trust my directions to get them there LOL). They were delighted and so I had a few great minutes talking to Sue ( from Conneticut) and Monica (from NYC). Karma sorted for today
Anyway, for more on Ane Brun go here http://www.anebrun.com

I got a random request to draw the Aussie pop duo ‘The Veronicas’ and I just took a notion and decided to do it. It’s funny ’cause I’ve seen one or two acoustic/accapella performances of theirs, but other than that I’ve barely heard them.

Searched Blogspot and since they don’t seem to offer a way to have my Twitter included in my blog I have decided to go to the dark side (with all the cool people, let’s be honest)… Just hoping I can transfer all my posts over here without straining any grey matter…
